  • Sears siding and roofing mess

We contracted with Sears in September/October to have roofing and siding on our older home because my husband is a disabled Viet Nam veteran. We hoped such a large company would handle the details so that we could relax through the process. The salesman, Stephen Ward, assured us over and over again that we would be very pleased with the results. Now, nine months later, the job is still not complete. Sears hires local contractors that we could have hired for much less money. They took out storm windows because the windows wouldn't fit after the casings were wrapped with the siding.... More...

  • Sears Never Fix Products

Sears quoted an Aprillaire digital humidifer then installed an analogue one. Took me four months for them to honor their quote - although they installed a Honywell digital humidifer. It odesn't work - for the past five weeks I have been calling them because it is only 8% in my house when it is set to 45. They promise to return calls but no-one calls back. It is under warranty. The unit also failed in November and ended up running on auxiliary for the whole month doubling the cost of heating from the previous year when I had a 14 year old machine. It took them three weeks of my... More...

  • Sears Siding

I'm very upset. ?I weren?t reading the contract because it was in your laptop and not printed. ( I was getting the information from you) ?When you were leaving I asked you if you have the house tops in scallops/gables and you said that you didn?t include that because you forgot but you will added later and shouldn?t matter to the price. ?We were outside the house discussing going down with siding and I pointed to you the cellar door too. ? The material you showed me is sicker than the material on the house now. Tom Smith and Ivan Castallo both said that Sears does not... More...

UNVELIEVABLE! My mother purchased a home AC outside unit on 2005 and city inspector failed the inspection. Noone ever notified us and now its 2013 and we are selling the property only to find out that the permit was never closed and we must reapply, repay, reinspect and bring the AC work to 2013 code. I have been calling Sears ALL DAY and no one helps, basically we are out of luck they say because the work is over 1 year and we would have to PAY to get an installer to come to the home and see what is wrong with the unti! Im in shock! We have no idea who to call now!!! More...

  • Sears Kitchen Remodel Nightmare

Do not under any circumstances allow Sears or anyone representing Sears in or around your home. This company's authorization to perform home improvement (home jack-ups/f***-ups) should be rescinded. Sears has managed to turn what was supposed to be a dream kitchen into a "living nightmare". These people do not care one iota about the people they are ripping off. If every customer who has had a bad experience with Sears tell twenty people about their experiences, we could run this incompetent pack of horse manure out of business tomorrow. I am up to eye-balls with Sears,... More...

  • must cancel

Sears shows up tells me they will call to set a date for a kitchen remodeling job estimated at $20,000. No one calls. No one responds. "Contract " says I cannot cancel. An account opened with Citi bank but I cannot cancel it. Even the headquarters was not able to reach the "TEAM" that is supposed to be responsive. It has been 4 weeks and no one has take final measurements. I get no response. I just want to cancel project. More...

  • Sears Roofing, Siding, and Gutters

We scheduled an estimate for complete roof replacement, gutters, and siding. Sears lost out on estimated $25,000 of business because they could not supply a color swatch of the siding color that was required by our home owners association (HOA) for approval. They cancelled our appointment because they do not supply color samples of any kind, only the samples brought by the Sears representative that we are not allowed to keep. We have already received quotes from 3 other companies, all provided color swatches, samples, and brochures for materials. More...

  • roofing

3 years ago we purchased a new roof from Sears with all the "warrantees" etc. We were promised a non leaky roof or they will rectify it immediately. Well,I had a non leaky roof at the time-it was just very old and it looked ugly and looked as though it would start going soon. So instead of listening to a contractor friend who advised us not to do a new roof untill needed-we went ahead with Sears. Immediately we had rain inside my house and den. My walls look like they are melting and my ceilings are ruined. What did Sears do? Well after numerous calls they sent out the installer... More...

  • Sears Kenmore air conditioning unit

We had a Sears home improvement person come to our house and write up a contract to install an air conditioning unit. Today, 6 days later, he called and said they couldn't do it for the price that he said in the contract and wanted us to give him more money. We said we had signed the contract already for the other amount. We then went and canceled the contract WITHOUT telling us. We want the unit put in for the amount that the contract says. The next step will be getting ahold of the BBB. More...

  • bathroom remodeling gone wrong

On March 25-26, Sears worked in my home on a bathroom remodeling project. When the wall system was about to be installed, it was discovered that Sears had the wrong wall color! Therefore, the project was stopped; leaving me with a newly installed acrylic tub but no wall covering. On April 6, Sears completed the surround wall unit (this time with the right color). After three days, deep scratches were noticed on the bottom of the tub. On April 10, the contractor, who had to come out to adjust our water (We were left with lukewarm to cold water.), took pictures of the scratches and... More...

  • Rip Off

The sales rep that came out he charged me for items that did not need to be charged, ex: move a bed did not do, remove window bars did not do and remove window sill was not done either. they gave me credit for the moving the bed and removing the window sills but would not credit the removal of the window bars even though they installed the windows from the inside the bars had no effect on the installation. also when they went to finalize my bill they see the sales rep failed to include the HVAC charges and added them in after everything was completed. it took them 3 months to install the... • Kitchen Disaster & Horrible Service

I signed a contract on 4-23-12 for a kitchen remodel. The salesman lied about the time frame & that the only subcontractor would be for the countertop. That company made us take out the temporary sink. Not all the bad cabinets were initially hauled off, the new faucet had a leak & it took 3 attempts to secure my dishwasher. On 5-4-12 I asked the salesman for another copy of the contract cd as mine wouldn't open & that I wanted to look at countertop samples again. He showed up on 6-12 & didn't turn in the order nor did another employee who came out on 6-23. Their... More...

  • Replacement windows nightmare

We had Sears do $12,000 of replacement windows on our house. First, they ordered and installed the wrong windows. Second time around, the downstairs windows done beautifully. Upstairs it looked like Edward Scissorhands did the install. So much damage was done to the walls and sills that a carpenter had to be sent in for repairs. I was told the upstairs installer was the son of the downstairs installer and he really wasn't traines. Whatever the salesman tells you is a lie - we were never able to contact him and the work was actually just outsourced. When we drove by to check on the work... More...

  • Air Conditioning Unit

In March, I paid approximately $8500 for a brand new A/C unit. I experienced nothing but headaches. First, they ordered the wrong size. They installed window units while waiting for the new unit. Second, the SC contractor installed the wrong unit and mismatched parts. Third, coils were not the right fit for the unit and was held together with tape ONLY. Fourth, instead of saving money, our bill doubled. Fifth, Calling a customer service was a nightmare. Sixth, it is now September and we have paid for 2 service repair at $120 a visit=$240. I could go on; however, I would need a book. My... More...

  • Horrible roofing job

Sears replaced my roof in 2011. 4 months after i found they never re-connected my exhaust vents which was causing moisture to blow into the attic. After i complained they said this was not a big deal and it would okay if it was never connected. The moisture would not damage my attic. A few months after I then found they installed an incorrect dryer roof vent which got blocked with the lint and caused a fire in the vent. I would not recommend Sears. More...

  • Installation and pricing of granite countertops

I had granite countertops installed and was ripped off on the pricing. The salesman told us the pricing was based on square footage and included everthing. We were charged almost $100.00 a square foot for 57 square feet which is quite high compared to any other granite place I contacted, but then were charged for a sink, faucet, installation, electric, plumbing, commission etc. This breakdown was never in our contract that we signed. We were told that the $99.00 included installation and the sink, etc. The contract only had a figure at the bottom with no breakdown. Bottom line, the... More...

  • Sears sucks

This review has been resolved or replied to by this company. I recently bought a garden tractor from Sears, and I really regret dealing with them. They sold me a full warranty plan, but when I need them to come out, I am told that I have to wait 35-40 days! The machine does not even run! IT won't even start! Please don't be a fool and buy from them. This is an outrage; I will never buy from them again and will certainly tell everyone I know how rotten and misleading their advertising is, this is the first of many sites I plan to visit. More...

  • Sears cabinets price

My kitchen was remodeled by Sears Home Services/Improvement and it was an horrible experience. The contract was signed at the end of August 2010 and my kitchen was not completely done until February of 2011. There was issue after issue. The cabinets were supposed to be installed in October, they were not installed till December. The employees forgot to put in the permit paperwork so that was another delay. The installers did a sloppy job. I spoke to manager numerous times and he admitted mistakes were made. He stated he would give me a discount but even that was disappointing. The kitchen... More...

  • impact windows

I work in the service industry and i cannot believe that Sears, a company I chose over 5 other companies to install impact windows in my house has been nothing but a great disappointment. I had the company 3 times send professionals to my house to measure my windows which i admired as i felt it is so important to make sure all parties concerned are aligned with the job needed to be done. I signed a contract and paid on the spot almost 9000 thousand dollars before the order was even sent to production and was told the order takes 3 weeks and on hte 4th week the work would... More...

  • Not happy

We wanted to remodel the kitchen and we called Sears. We had a sales guy come in in December 2010 and we were impressed buy his presentation. We sign a contract and expected the job to be done in about 1 week after materials were received. All turned into a nightmare. Doors had defects, that we were told are normal, mismatched colors and side panels were cheap looking. It took Sears 6 months to bring the kitchen to something that looks like what we signed for. We will never use Sears services ever again. More...

  • Denied rebate for new heat pump installation

I contracted with Sears Home Improvement Products to install a new Sears 2.5 ton heat pump system in my home on 4-13-2011. The job was initially completed on 4-27. However, just after the initial completion of this system, the project coordinator contacted me with what can be best described as a thinly veiled attempt to pay more money because the electrical installation costs exceeded the sales person estimate. My contract specially detailed additional financial incentives for a $800 gift card and a $325 cash rebate that is still being advertised nationally. Also, this system would qualify... More...

  • DON"T USE SEARS

Do Not Use SEARS Home Improvement Co. for any installations that are crucial to your home or comfort. They do not have emergency weekend telephone numbers and use local independant contractors. That being said I will tell my story: I Just bought a house and was in the process of updating a lot of thing's including a central air system...house had none, but had a forced hot air furnace with duct work in place. I interviewed 3 Contractor companies for installing a Central Air system to my forced hot air furnace. Sears was the most competetive so I signed with them. Next step,... More...

  • Terrible Experience

A Sears salesman (Tom Shadmand) convinced me to sign a contract with Sears for siding and gutters. After the contract was signed, I had great difficulty getting in touch with Tom and other members of the Sears team. Some representatives could not even find a record of my contract and attempted to schedule another estimate! After all this, Sears said that their siding did not match the part of the house that already had siding. So, they switched to the siding that I already had even though they said it was far inferior to the Sears siding for which I'd paid a premium. Sears also... More...

  • New Heating and A/C

We have been given the wrong Heating and A/C unit and have been given the run around. They actually said they could construct something so it would work. I was appalled because we did not pay 8,400 for them to make something that fits. We paid for a new unit not something that is piecemealed together. Mitch Disney is supposedly our so called project manager but he has never come to our home to see what the problem is, he has only called a few times but nothing has been settled as of 9 April 2011. We have tried several numbers to talk to someone at Sears Headquarter that is over... More...

I purchased a new furnace from sears home improvement and cannot Tell you how many issues the overly aggressive salespeople mislead me on., and it was like pulling teeth to get resolved.,.
