Sears siding and roofing mess
We contracted with Sears in September/October to have roofing and siding on our older home because my husband is a disabled Viet Nam veteran. We hoped such a large company would handle the details so that we could relax through the process. The salesman, Stephen Ward, assured us over and over again that we would be very pleased with the results. Now, nine months later, the job is still not complete. Sears hires local contractors that we could have hired for much less money. They took out storm windows because the windows wouldn't fit after the casings were wrapped with the siding. That was OK, but they also removed half of the attic window which is now covered with cardboard. In addition, one of the workers dropped something heavy and caved in the air duct from the heat pump into the house. We called the local TV troubleshooter who did a feature on the problems. Looking at this site makes me think Sears just does not care. We are telling everyone to stay away from any dealings with Sears. Oh, according to their brochure, satisfaction is guaranteed. Also the final cost was $6000. over the estimate. We found that out after the roof had been removed. Both the roof and the siding failed the county inspections.
